Tier 1:

Use the number line or tradition to subtraction the fractions.

1: If you have 3/8 of a pizza and you eat 1/8 of it, how much pizza do you have left?

 

2: You have 5/10 of a chocolate bar and you give away 2/10. How much chocolate bar do you have remaining?

 

Tier2:

Use the fraction strip to subtraction the fractions.

1: Sarah has 7/12 of a yard of fabric. She uses 3/12 of it to make a dress. How much fabric does she have left?

2: A recipe calls for 7/9 of a cup of sugar, but you only use 4/9 of a cup. How much sugar is left from the original amount?

3: Tom has 6/10 of a gallon of paint. After using 3/10 of a gallon, how much paint does he have remaining?

 

Tier 3:

Use the fraction number line to subtraction the fractions.


 1: A baker has 6/12 of a pound of flour. He uses 3/12 of a pound for cookies. How much flour does he have left?


2: Lisa has 6/9 of a liter of juice. She pours out 4/9 of a liter for a party. How much juice remains?


3: A gardener collects 5/7 of a gallon of rainwater. After using 2/7 of a gallon for watering plants. How much rainwater is left?


 4: During a fundraiser, a group has 9/10 of a dollar. They spend 7/10 of a dollar on supplies and another 6/40 of a dollar on snacks. How much money do they have remaining?
